For years movies had been shown on Summer Saturday
nights on the grassy lot behind Village Books.  When I designed the mural I had to keep the movie screen intact.

The Village Green Mural was painted in the Summer
of 2000 with the help of 5 high school interns shown
with me at the left (l.to r: Yan In, Emily Eklund,
Kara McFadden, Olivia Knapp and Robin Crookall).
Kara, Emily and Yan are shown painted into the mural in
the detail to the upper left along with my Grandkids, Linden
and Jared, and my Golden Retriever, Sophie.

After the Village Green Park was constructed in 2003, I
made necessary modifications to the mural so that it would
fit into it's new space.

Funding for the mural came entirely from businesses
and families in the community.  Their names are "chiseled"
on the donor wall directly under the pictorial of Harris
Street, circa 1927 (see detail above).
